Are you ready to marvel at yet another breathtaking image of our universe? The National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA) recently shared an image of a beautiful sparkling nebula ESO 455-10 that’s sure to leave you awestruck.
According to NASA, a nebula is a giant cloud of dust and gas in space. Some nebulae (more than one nebula) come from the gas and dust thrown out by the explosion of a dying star, such as a supernova. Other nebulae are regions where new stars are beginning to form.
NASA shared the image of a nebula on its official NASA Hubble Instagram page where the caption of the image reads, “Seen nestled in a field of stars, the nebula ESO 455-10 dazzles in this #HubbleFriday image. Located in the constellation Scorpius, ESO 455-10 is distributing its elements into the interstellar medium, which will in time help to form the next generation of stars”. The post has currently received over 70,000 likes and 100 comments where people have reacted to the post with comments like “ NASA Hubble official Instagram page is regularly posting stunning images of our universe.
For those unaware, the Hubble Space Telescope is named in honor of the trailblazing astronomer Edwin Hubble and is a large, space-based observatory, which has revolutionized astronomy since its launch and deployment by the space shuttle Discovery in 1990. Hubble, the observatory, is the first major optical telescope to be placed in space, the ultimate mountaintop, according to NASA.
Hubble has an unobstructed view of the universe and scientists have used it to observe the most distant stars and galaxies along with the planets in our solar system. NASA Hubble also recently shared images that show Jupiter’s northern and southern auroras – stunning light shows in a planet’s atmosphere, that look absolutely breathtaking. See for yourself:
